ZAGREB, July 16 (Hina) - The parliamentary benches of the ruling coalition endorsed a number of bills referring to the adjustment of Croatian legislation to European Union norms, as well as a package of health laws, at an extraordinary session on Wednesday, without the participation of the opposition. #L# MPs endorsed a bill ratifying a Hague agreement on the protection of industrial designs, which will eliminate obstacles on the Croatian market, where industrial designs could not be protected until now. Also endorsed was a bill ratifying an agreement between the government and the European Patent Organisation on cooperation in the field of patents, which will attract new technologies and investments. The ruling coalition MPs supported a final bill on railways which, following EU guidelines, provides for a more efficient and more rational functioning of railways by separating the transport from the infrastructure section. This bill will eliminate monopoly in railway transport because there will be more carriers, as is the case in EU countries. The railways infrastructure will remain within the state's jurisdiction. Also supported was a package of health laws. Health Minister Andro Vlahusic said the package comprised laws which Croatia had not seen to date, laws which ensured a more professional health care system and upgraded the profession's dignity. MPs will vote on all debated bills on Thursday, when the 34th extraordinary session should end. (hina) ha sb
