An assistant to the agriculture minister, Miroslav Pazur, tried to
persuade farmers at a meeting today that there was no reason for
protests.
Once farm support and compensation for alleviating the
consequences of recent droughts are added to the agreed purchase
price of one kuna per kilo, the actual price of one kilo of wheat
will be 1.7 to 1.8 kuna, Pazur said.
He added that the government abode by the agreed-on model for the
purchase of wheat, and called on leaders of the farmers'
associations not to hinder other producers who wanted to sell wheat
under the already agreed conditions.
