"You are delivering your credentials just before the official visit
of the Israeli President to Croatia, which will in a way bring the
process of full normalisation of Israeli-Croatian relations to an
end," Mesic said.
"The visit of President (Moshe) Katsav on Friday will be the first
official visit of an Israeli president to Croatia and will
certainly mark the beginning of deeper diplomatic relations,"
Ambassador Yael Rubinstein said.
The Israeli embassy covering Croatia, Slovenia and Slovakia is
based in Vienna.
The Croatian president said he hoped "the Israeli government would
decide to open an embassy in Croatia in the foreseeable future."
The Israeli diplomat was also received by Foreign Minister Tonino
Picula.
