ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Wednesday morning voted on several items discussed last week, while the opposition took part only in the votes which concerned bills it had sponsored and bills adjusting domestic legislation to European standards. #L# The parliament adopted a law on foreign citizens, which should speed up and facilitate the procedure of issuing foreigners with work and other permits. MPs adopted a government-sponsored amendment transferring some responsibilities for illegal entry by foreign citizens to foreign agencies organising tourist and business visits. The parliament took note of the annual reports of a number of institutions, including Hina's Steering Council, the Council for Radio and Television, and the Croatian National Bank (HNB). The parliament refused a motion by the Croatian Party of Rights to have the State Agency for the Rehabilitation of Banks (DAB) committed to cancel the sale of Dubrovacka Bank and submit to the parliament a report on the sale, as well as a motion to abolish the DAB. MPs also took note of the Ombudsman's report for 2002. A motion of the Croatian Democratic Union to bind the War Veterans Ministry to voice its stand on the Ombudsman's claims about the unlawful work of ministry employees and disregard for the rulings of the Administrative Court did not receive the support of the ruling coalition. The parliament will continue voting on bills that were discussed last week on Thursday. (hina) rml
