ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Wednesday morning voted on several items discussed last week, while the opposition took part only in the votes which concerned bills it had sponsored and bills adjusting domestic
legislation to European standards.

The parliament adopted a law on foreign citizens, which should
speed up and facilitate the procedure of issuing foreigners with
work and other permits. MPs adopted a government-sponsored
amendment transferring some responsibilities for illegal entry by
foreign citizens to foreign agencies organising tourist and
business visits.
The parliament took note of the annual reports of a number of
institutions, including Hina's Steering Council, the Council for
Radio and Television, and the Croatian National Bank (HNB).
The parliament refused a motion by the Croatian Party of Rights to
have the State Agency for the Rehabilitation of Banks (DAB)
committed to cancel the sale of Dubrovacka Bank and submit to the
parliament a report on the sale, as well as a motion to abolish the
DAB.
MPs also took note of the Ombudsman's report for 2002.
A motion of the Croatian Democratic Union to bind the War Veterans
Ministry to voice its stand on the Ombudsman's claims about the
unlawful work of ministry employees and disregard for the rulings
of the Administrative Court did not receive the support of the
ruling coalition.
The parliament will continue voting on bills that were discussed
last week on Thursday.
