The section, with eight brand new bridges and another eight
reconstructed, should be a part of the future pan-European 5C
corridor connecting Budapest with the southern Croatian seaport of
Ploce.
The official opening was performed by the chairman of the Council of
Ministers of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Adnan Terzic.
Officials of the federal government announced that in coming weeks
bids would be invited for the construction of another 10 kilometres
of a new section which would be built as the continuation of the
first section.
Earlier this month Bosnian ministerial council accepted the tender
of a private company, called Bosmal, for the collection of initial
funds, i.e. some 300 million euros for the elaboration of a
feasibility study about the construction of the entire highway
passing through Bosnia as part of the said European corridor. The
project might cost up to 3.5 billion euros.
