"My health is significantly better than before," Blaskic said,
replying to a judge who asked him how he felt.
Earlier this year Blaskic's blood test was not satisfactory, so he
underwent hospital examinations in The Hague.
Status conferences are held at regular intervals so the sentenced
can appear before judges and judges, the defence and prosecution
teams can see in which phase the process is.
General Blaskic was sentenced to 45 years in prison, with the
possibility of appeal, for crimes committed in the Lasva River
valley during the war in Bosnia. The appeals process is underway. He
has been detained since April 1, 1996.
Participants in the status conference also discussed the course of
the last round of motions by the defence and prosecution, after
which the appeals council should make a decision about Blaskic's
case.
