But it is not in any opposition to regional cooperation which is an unavoidable step en route to united Europe," Mesic said at the Summit of EU heads and five countries included in the Stabilisation and Association process (SAp) -- Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, Macedonia, and Albania. Croatia has the strength, ability and will to meet political and economic requirements for entry into the EU, Mesic said. Croatia will persevere in the war against global terrorism and organised crime, as well as in efforts to overcome the aftermath of the wars in the former Yugoslavia, including full cooperation with the Hague's UN war crimes tribunal. "We want to become part of the great European family. We will do our part in the job. In this endeavour we expect your help and support," the president concluded. (hina) lml sb
