integration processes. #L#
At a news conference held in Rijeka on Wednesday, ahead of
tomorrow's arrival of the pontiff, the local dignitary said he
expected that the Holy Father would express his backing to Croatia
on its path towards European integration.
Commenting on the programme of the pope's visit from 5 to 9 June,
Archbishop Devcic particularly pointed to the fact that the Holy
Father would beatify Mary of Jesus Crucified Petkovic, as this
would be the first Croatian woman to be beatified.
According to Devcic, this should be interpreted also as credit
given to all Croatian nuns and mothers for their contribution to the
upbringing of children and promotion of Christian values. The
archbishop expects the pope's visit will make a strong impact on the
spiritual revival of the country.
