A former chief of intelligence at the Serbian interior ministry's
State Security Service (SDB) and first commander of SDB's special
operations units, the Red Berets, Simatovic was extradited to the
Hague tribunal on Friday.
Alongside Simatovic, the Hague prosecutor's office indicted former
SDB head Jovica Stanisic, whose extradition has been postponed due
to surgery he recently underwent in Belgrade. Both were arrested on
May 13 as part of an investigation into the March assassination of
Serbian PM Zoran Djindjic.
