ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - Representatives of the ministries of culture, justice and European integration, as well as representatives of the Council of Europe gathered at a seminar called "The Public Has The Right To Know" on Monday and
supported a draft law on the right to the access to information drawn up by 17 non-governmental organisations.

The law realises the constitutional principle and one of the
fundamental rights of citizens to have the access to information
possessed by state authorities. Fines are foreseen for denying such
information.
The initiative for the adoption of the said law was launched by the
Croatian Helsinki Committee and the Council of Europe a year ago.
