This was said at a news conference held after business talks between
Croatia's and Serbia and Montenegro's entrepreneurs at the
Yugoslav Chamber of Commerce (PKJ) in Belgrade on Friday. The talks
were attended by 24 Croatian and about 40 entrepreneurs from Serbia
and Montenegro.
The President of the Croatian Chamber of Crafts, Stjepan Safran and
PKJ vice president Miodrag Nikolic pointed to textile, leather
processing, food-processing and shipbuilding industries as
possible fields of cooperation. They said cooperation was also
possible in regional projects.
They stressed it was important to simplify the visa regime in order
to facilitate cooperation of the two countries' businessmen which
would result in an increase in trade. They stressed this was the
objective of today's talks.
According to Nikolic, the two countries' trade last year amounted
to US$183 million which was 13 percent more in relation to 2001. In
this year's first three months, the two countries' trade amounted
to $82 million and according to Nikolic by the end of the year it
could exceed $350 million.
The business talks were held as part of the presentation of Croatian
craftsmen at the 47th international fair on technical achievement
in Belgrade and the 70th international agriculture fair in Novi
Sad.
