Asked about open issues between Slovenia and Croatia, such as the
Ljubljanska Bank debt to Croatian clients and undelivered power
from the jointly owned Krsko nuclear power plant, Slovenia's head
of state said his stance on the issue was a bit different.
"The agreement on the Krsko nuclear plant is ratified and this is an
important achievement," Drnovsek said and added that negotiations
were lengthy and criticised in both countries. "This solution
points to the degree of maturity and understanding that solutions
must always be of a compromising nature."
Speaking of the open issue of the Ljubljanska Bank debt, Drnovsek
said that Slovene figures are far more different than Croatian.
"You neither calculated in Ljubljanska Bank's claims in Croatia,
nor the fact that this is being solved in the process of succession
to the former Yugoslavia," said Drnovsek.
