said Croatian PM Ivica Racan on Monday. #L#
"If the court decides so, we will deliver (the documents). This
government accepts the decision of the court," Racan told Croatian
Radio, commenting on the Social Liberals' (HSLS) announcement of
interpellation regarding the government's conduct in the case of
Gotovina against whom the Hague-based international war crimes
tribunal has issued an indictment.
Racan reiterated that the offer of an award for information about
the fugitive general's whereabouts was "a judgement by the police"
and that he "does not agree with many elements of Gotovina's
indictment". But, he said, "the only place to contest these
elements is the Hague tribunal".
"Gotovina himself would help and do a favour for Croatia if he
accepted this logic," Racan said.
Speaking about parliamentary elections, the prime minister said he
would personally like them to be held this year instead of next
year. When speaking about the date of elections, one must take into
account commitments which Croatia needs to fulfil on its path
towards the European Union, he said.
"If we are responsible and work through the summer, this task should
be completed in October at the latest. After that we can go to
elections," said Racan.
