Lemierre stated that Croatia was achieving excellent economic
results which were more and more frequently mentioned in business
and political circles. It is extremely important for the Croatian
authorities to have started tackling the problem of unemployment,
now that the country has a high degree of economic and political
stability, he said.
The EBRD president hoped that the cooperation between the bank and
Croatia would continue to be successful.
The two officials also discussed new joint activities,
particularly town and county projects, ranging from infrastructure
to environmental protection. Lemierre gladly accepted an
invitation to visit Croatia in September.
The EBRD official expects Croatia, as one of the most developed
countries in the region, to host important meetings of the EBRD,
and, most probably, its annual session in 2005, the statement
said.
