ZAGREB, May 1 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and Prime Minister Ivica Racan on Saturday forwarded a message to citizens at the ceremony marking International Labour Day, May 1. The two officials said Croatia was on the right path and that an increase of standards would depend on the pace of the realisation of goals. #L# "We have orientation -- European associations and standards -- and everything depends on the realisation of these goals," Mesic said. "May 1 is a holiday of working people, and the majority of people in Croatia are working people," Racan said. He added that in three years of its mandate, the government enabled a higher growth rate and that citizens would feel the results of better standards within a year or two. The prime minister said that negotiations with social partners on amendments to the Labour Act were successful. He said that technical details from the law would be finished next week, after which the government would forward to parliament about ten bills from the labour-social legislation package.
