The number of workplace deaths thus went down by one in comparison to 2009, State Inspectorate official Nenad Puljic told the news conference.
A positive trend was also registered in the number of work-related injuries. In 2010, a total of 18,109 injuries of this kind were reported, while in 2009 more than 25,000 job-related injuries were registered.
Last year, the incidence rate of occupational injuries was 1,220 injured workers per 100,000 inhabitants, and in 2009, this rate was 1,270 injured workers per 100,000 inhabitants, said Marija Zavalic, director of the Croatian institute for the protection of health and safety at work.
In 2010, there were 98 cases of occupational diseases, mainly pneumoconiosis.
