ZAGREB, April 9 (Hina) - Croatia's Gross Domestic Product last year was up 5.2 percent from 2001 in real terms, the Central Bureau of Statistics noted based on quarterly estimates.

In the last quarter of 2002 GDP was 5.9% in comparison to the same
quarter of the previous year.
According to GDP calculation indicators by consumption categories
for last year's last quarter, the growth of GDP continues to be
influenced the most by a rise in personal consumption and
investments, while the growth of exports was a mere 0.1 percent.
Personal consumption has been increasing for the third consecutive
year. Its rate of 7.3 percent from the last quarter of 2002 is the
highest hitherto.
Capital investments grew by 6.5 percent in the same period.
State expenditure has continued to drop for the 11th quarter in a
row at a rate of 2.1 percent.
Alongside the decreased government spending, the dynamics of GDP's
growth was also slowed down by an increase in exports to as much as
11.3 percent.
The growth of last year's GDP in comparison to 2001 was mostly
spurred by increased personal spending, by 6.6%, and a 10.1%
increase of capital investments.
The export of goods and services contributed with a rise of 1.2
percent, while the growth of GDP was slowed down by a 1.8% decrease
in government spending and a 8.8% increase in imports.
