ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) - The Krsko nuclear power plant in Slovenia
may resume the delivery of electricity to Croatia in early April,
Croatian Assistant Economy Minister Roman Nota said Thursday. #L#
"We expect that the renewed delivery of power will coincide with the
company's (Krsko's) assembly scheduled for April 5, but I cannot
state the exact date," Nota told reporters after the closed part of
a government sitting today. At the session, Nota informed ministers
of talks the Croatian and Slovene sides had held about the plant in
Zagreb on Tuesday.
Nota confirmed that the Slovene side had agreed to negotiate the
payment of damages to Croatia for its non-delivery of electricity
from July 1 last year until the day the Croatian power industry
starts receiving power from Krsko again.
"We still have not reached an agreement on the manner of payment,
whether in money or an increased power delivery," Nota said.
He believes that an agreement on the issue will be reached within 60
days, which is the deadline the Croatian parliament set for the
government to solve this and other issues concerning the
realisation of the Krsko Agreement.
The meeting between the two countries' delegations on Tuesday was
the first since the Krsko Agreement has come into power.
The agreement was signed by Croatia and Slovenia on December 19,
2001. The Croatian parliament ratified it on June 3 2002, while the
Slovene did so on February 25 of this year.
