ZAGREB, March 26 (Hina) - Two-thirds of Croatians believe that Croatia should continue cooperating with the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague but that domestic courts should have the possibility to assess whether indictments are
founded, according to a survey conducted in March.

Sixteen percent of respondents believe that the cooperation should
resume unconditionally, while 14% believe that every form of
cooperation should be discontinued.
The survey, conducted across Croatia between 8 and 17 March by the
International Republican Institute (IRI) in cooperation with the
Puls agency, included 1,700 citizens above the age of 18.
Fifty-eight percent of respondents believe that Croatia is closer
to joining the European Union, 23% think its status is the same as
before, while 12% think that it is farther away. Seventy-one
percent believe the country's recent application for EU membership
was a good decision, while only 15% believe it was bad.
