The surgery on Kostelic's right knee was performed by Dr. Miroslav
Haspl.
Haspl carried out an arthroscopic resection of a rupture to the
middle bit of the outer meniscus, with the free part of the anterior
horn, Croatian Skiing Alliance spokesman Ozren Mueller told Hina.
The operation lasted one hour and Kostelic was under general
anaesthesia.
Mueller said recovery was expected to be fast and the knee joint to
be functional given that the bulk of the meniscus, including its
most important part, the back, was in good condition.
The rest of the knee joint, including the cartilage, is also in good
condition, especially the ligament cross-section that was repaired
two years ago, he added.
Muller said Kostelic would undergo a two-week rehabilitation and
might be back to skiing early in May.
