morning stepped up the airport control of passengers coming from
states which have reported symptoms of a deadly form of pneumonia of
unknown origin, Assistant Health Minister Ivo Afric told Hina. #L#
Health inspections are examining passengers coming, via Europe,
from Canada, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore,
Thailand, and Vietnam, where cases of this disease have been
reported.
The symptoms of this acute respiratory syndrome include high fever
and acute respiratory distress.
To date nine persons have died. Last week the World Health
Organisation received reports about more than 150 new cases
pointing to the syndrome.
