Wednesday evening that Patten and EU High Representative for foreign affairs and security policy Javier Solana would arrive in Belgrade for an emergency visit to express support to democratic institutions of Serbia and Montenegro after the assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.
ZAGREB/BELGRADE, March 13 (Hina) - Due to the latest events in
Serbia and Montenegro, European Commissioner for foreign affairs
Chris Patten has changed his plan of visit to Croatia. Serbia and
Montenegro's Foreign Ministry said late Wednesday evening that
Patten and EU High Representative for foreign affairs and security
policy Javier Solana would arrive in Belgrade for an emergency
visit to express support to democratic institutions of Serbia and
Montenegro after the assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran
Djindjic. #L#
Solana, who was officially visiting Slovenia, also changed his
plans due to the latest development of events in Serbia and
Montenegro.
"The EU representatives are arriving to extend condolences on the
occasion of the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic and
to offer support to democratic institutions of our country. They
will meet with Serbia and Montenegro's senior officials," the
ministry said in a statement.
