After his talks with Slovene Premier Anton Rop, the alliance's
chief said the entry into NATO for countries that opted for their
accession would mean that they could take part in the decision-
making. It is up to Slovenes, who will express their opinion on the
country's joining in the European Union and NATO at a referendum set
for 23 March, to make a decision with long-term consequences not
only for this but also for coming generations, Robertson said
adding that they should not make opinion according to the current
developments in the world in which the alliance was not directly
involved.
The current Iraqi crisis and difference in the stands on the matter,
according to Slovene analysts, seem to be the main reason for a lack
of overwhelming support to Ljubljana's entry into the alliance.
On Monday afternoon, the Briton will address Slovene parliament.
