From the employers' point of view, it is more favourable to expect
that the 2004 budget be adopted by a new government, Ivancevic told
a news conference at which he informed reporters of decisions a HUP
assembly held last week.
The assembly urges the ruling parities to focus more on economic
development in the pre-election year, Ivancevic said.
HUP, said Ivancevic, also urges unions to be more constructive in
reforming the labour legislation and, along with the legitimate
representation of workers' interest, to assume their share of
responsibility to improve the investment climate and create more
jobs.
HUP also hailed Croatia's application for EU membership. The
association said the most important measures which lead to
improving the enterprise and investment climate and better
competition and prepare Croatia for joining the EU were the better
efficiency of the judiciary, a step forward in the public sector
reform and the continuation of the privatisation process which
should be conducted by professional management teams or
representatives of consulting houses.
