The Lehman Brothers Eurasia Group (LEGSI) index for Croatia for
February was 58 as in January, the Croatian Employers' Association
(HUP) reported on Tuesday.
According to the LEGSI report for February, the country's index for
this month was determined by a combination of negative and positive
effects. The negative effects include the continuation of
conflicts between the two strongest parties in the ruling
coalition, doctors' strike, a failed attempt to privatise the
Suncani Hvar hotel chain, tensions in passing amendments to the
Labour Act and dissatisfaction with the Law on Croatian Radio
Television, while the positive ones include Croatia's application
for EU membership and a new stand-by arrangement with the
International Monetary Fund.
According to the LEGSI report for February, Croatia has climbed one
place and is now 10th among 22 monitored countries. The list is
headed by Hungary, Poland, and Mexico, while Columbia, Azerbaijan,
Venezuela and Nigeria are at the bottom.
