Croatia's defence ministry and the United States last week signed a
contract for new combat net radios, the American Embassy in Zagreb
said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the Croatian ministry signed a Letter
of Offer and Acceptance regarding the supply of 156 Very High
Frequency (VHF) Combat Net Radios.
"The Combat Net Radios include both vehicle and man-portable units.
They are a key component in improving interoperability of the
Croatian Armed Forces with NATO. Delivery of the radios is expected
at the end of this year," the statement read.
In order to purchase said equipment Zagreb has received US$7.14
million (50 million kuna) from the U.S. administration.
"Since Croatia joined Partnership for Peace in May 2000, the United
States government has provided Croatia's Ministry of Defence
Foreign Military Financing Program with grant funding totalling
US$12.98 million (91 million kuna). These grants assist the
Ministry of Defence with its equipment and training modernisation
effort," the statement read.
