According to the LEGSI monthly report, the index for October was
influenced the most by a combination of negative effects of the
continuation of conflicts between the two strongest parties in the
ruling coalition, a doctor's strike, the failed attempt to
privatise the Suncani Hvar hotel chain, tensions in passing
amendments to the Labour Act and dissatisfaction with the law on
Croatian Radio Television, as well as positive effects of Croatia's
application for EU membership and a new stand-by arrangement the
International Monetary Fund has granted Croatia.
According to the LEGSI report for February, Croatia has climbed by
one place and is now 10th among 22 countries included in the
evaluation. The list is headed by Hungary, Poland, and Mexico,
while Columbia, Azerbaijan, Venezuela and Nigeria are at the
bottom.
The LEGSI index evaluates the political stability of countries and
their resistance to internal crises.
