ZAGREB, Feb 19 (Hina) - At Thursday's session the Croatian
government should pass a decree on mandatory stocks of petroleum
and its products under which inventories should be kept by all
importers who last year imported at least 25 tonnes net of said
materials. #L#
All importers would be obliged to secure stocks amounting to 25
percent of the net import of petroleum and its products from 2002,
but gradually, so that they would have to ensure full stocks in
early 2006.
The issue of petroleum stocks has been spurred by the Iraqi crisis.
Discussing the crisis last week, Economy Minister Ljubo Jurcic said
Croatia's petroleum reserves would last three months. Croatia
spends between 200,000 and 270,000 tonnes of petroleum per month,
while oil company INA's stocks are 600,000 tonnes, he said.
