MPs are expected to consider the items on Thursday.
Other items put on the agenda are a draft act on preventing a
conflict of interest and a draft act on declaring the Papuk area as a
national park.
Sabor President Zlatko Tomcic informed MPs that the plenary session
would be adjourned at 3 pm Wednesday, as the parliamentary internal
affairs and national security committee should hold a session in
the Sabor hall, after last week the bench of the Croatian Party of
Right/Christian Democratic Union (HSP/HKDU) demanded that Defence
Minister Zeljka Antunovic inform MPs about the state of affairs in
the military. The request ensued after recent media reports about
an unfavourable situation in the army.
Other MPs, interested in the matter, are invited to attend the
session, which the committee would hold behind the closed doors.
At the very beginning of the continuation of the session on
Wednesday morning, MPs endorsed an act on the consumer protection,
which was debated in the first reading. The bill was forwarded into
the second reading.
The parliament supported bills on Croatia's liability for damage
caused by Croatian soldiers and police officers during the Homeland
War, damage caused during the former Yugoslav federation (SFRY),
and damage caused by terrorist acts or at public protest rallies.
At the request of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) bench, the voting
on the final bill on community service was postponed for Thursday,
so that the benches could hold consultations on changes including
an amendment moved by the Libra party on the termination of
obligatory military service (conscription in the army)."
