ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - The beginning of the Community Assistance for Reconstruction, Development and Stabilisation (CARDS) programme, related to the development of Croatia's official statistics, can be expected in February. The start
of the programme will open the possibility of using the European Union's resources and better connection with Eurostat - the EU Office for statistics, it was said at Thursday's press conference called by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - The beginning of the Community Assistance
for Reconstruction, Development and Stabilisation (CARDS)
programme, related to the development of Croatia's official
statistics, can be expected in February. The start of the programme
will open the possibility of using the European Union's resources
and better connection with Eurostat - the EU Office for statistics,
it was said at Thursday's press conference called by the Central
Bureau of Statistics. #L#
The CARDS programme has secured funds for several consecutive
programmes worth 1.5 million euros. Of this amount, EUR850,000 is
earmarked for the 'twinning' cooperation programme with the Danish
Statistical Office and which includes several programmes.
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics has also prepared a proposal on
the regional monitoring of the gross domestic product which
includes five regions -- eastern, western, northern, southern and
central Croatia. The government has forwarded the proposal to
parliament.
Regional CARDS 2001 projects called "Parity of Purchasing Power"
"Foreign Trade Statistics" and "Demography of Small and Medium-
Size Companies" are underway.
