At its first session this year, on January 3, the Croatian
government decided to set up a unified register of annual financial
reports. A bill to regulate the establishment of the register is in
parliamentary procedure.
FINA will manage the register and process data under various
criteria for the needs of state bodies and institutions. This will
facilitate an analysis of economic trends and enable the
authorities to make decisions based on the data.
The establishment of the register is based on a provision of the Law
on the Financial Agency, according to which the agency manages
public and commercial registers. The Norwegian Foreign Ministry
has financially endorsed the project.
Such registers are common in countries of the European Union.
Collecting data in one register will enable the incorporation of
European standards into Croatia's legal system, which will
contribute to the fulfilling of conditions for Croatia's accession
to the EU.
