Minister Neven Mimica told Hina on the phone that he had explained
his countries' aspirations at two panel discussion, held within the
forum in the famous Swiss winter resort. One panel discussion
referred to the meeting with future members of the EU and the other
to South Eastern Europe.
"The fact that Croatia has been included into the first panel
discussion shows that it is treated at such outstanding gatherings
as a definitely future EU member," said Mimica, who is the head of
the Croatian delegation at this forum which has drawn 2,000 leading
world politicians and business people.
Besides these two discussions in which the Croatian minister
officially participated, he also held several informal meetings
with presidents of Latvia and Slovenia, with Jordanian King,
Turkish Premier and foreign ministers of Estonia and Greece as will
as with a great number of other high-ranking officials.
The talks at those informal meetings revolved around steps which
Zagreb as well as the EU should make so as to enable Croatia's
admission into the Union.
In Davos, Croatia together with other 10 countries joined an
initiative, launched by Jordanian King Abdullah II about the
information technology in developing economies which should help
such countries to be better linked and to base their progress on
that technology.
Mimica added that the central topic of the Davos forum was Iraq and
the latest developments in relation to this issue.
