"The ruling is extensive because it relates to eight people. As such
technical formalities are a little more detailed," Lozina said in a
phone conversation with Hina on Tuesday.
The state prosecutor's office in Split County announced an appeal
on the last day of the trial, November 22, to be ruled on by the
Supreme Court. This court can confirm the validity of the ruling or
quash it, in which case there would have to be a retrial before the
same panel of judges or another one in Split.
A five-member panel headed by Judge Lozina acquitted the eight
former military policemen who were accused that in mid-1992 they
committed war crimes against Serb nationals in the Lora prison.
The defendants, with the exception of three who are fugitive, were
released, while warrants for the fugitives were revoked.
