BELGRADE, Jan 18 (Hina) - Slobodan Milosevic, who is standing trial at the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague, was elected president of the Socialist Party of Serbia by some 2,000 delegates attending the party's sixth extraordinary
congress in Belgrade on Saturday.

Milosevic was the only presidential candidate and was elected
against his will. In a letter from The Hague, he harshly criticised
the party's current leadership and the holding of the congress.
