PRISTINA, Jan 15 (Hina) - Greek Foreign Minister Georgios Papandreou said in Pristina on Wednesday Kosovo needed to build a democratic society which would respect European standards for all ethnic communities living in Kosovo.

Papandreou said that Greece, as the current European Union chair,
was especially interested in peace and cooperation in the Balkans
so that a joint future could be built.
The EU cares about helping the region achieve European standards
but the region itself must clearly demonstrate political will to
carry out changes and make sacrifices, Papandreou told
journalists.
