Addressing a news conference in Sarajevo on Friday, Sven Fredriksen
said the EUPM would actively cooperate with local police over the
next three years.
Earlier today he met senior officials in the two entities' interior
ministries and chiefs of police from all over the country.
EUPM representatives will work in every police department to
supervise and coordinate local police work and make sure they act
professionally, free of political influence.
The EUPM's 560 police began working on January 1, replacing a U.N.
police mission.
The EUPM's official inauguration has been announced for January 15
when the European Union's commissioner for foreign and security
affairs, Javier Solana, and Greek Foreign Minister Jorgos
Papandreu should arrive in Sarajevo.
