According to the Catholic Press Agency, Puljic was speaking at the annual Christmas reception in Sarajevo which was attended by prominent state officials and the leaders of the major religious communities in Bosnia.
The cardinal recalled that Bosnian authorities failed to keep their promise of 2003 that an agreement would be signed with the Vatican in honour of the pope, who he said had been such a strong advocate of peace in the country.
"In the implementation of the law on the freedom of faith and the legal status of churches and religious communities, we expect this society to be organised as best as possible, without various pressures or double standards," Cardinal Puljic sad, adding it was the common interest of all to incorporate the principles of democracy and rule of law into Bosnia's structure.
