"I am truly disappointed with the verdict. I hoped that the Hague tribunal would be consistent with its earlier verdicts and that the time Kordic has spent in detention would be counted in the length of the sentence. In the worst case, if compared to other verdicts in The Hague, his punishment should have been much less severe," Colak told Hina.
Asked if he viewed the Kordic verdict as a verdict against the wartime HDZ, which was led by Kordic, Colak answered in the affirmative.
The Appeals Chamber of the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague on Friday upheld the verdict of the Trial Chamber, sentencing Kordic to 25 years in prison for war crimes committed by Bosnian Croat forces against Muslim civilians in the Lasva valley of central Bosnia in 1993.
