ZAGREB, Dec 16 (Hina) - The basic living costs of a four-member family in November were 2.84 percent higher than in October, while the average monthly salary covered 68 percent of those costs, according to the Independent Croatian Trade Unions (NHS).

The average salary in September was 4,132 kuna, while the average living costs in November amounted to 6,703 kuna.

NHS president Kresimir Sever told the press on Thursday next month's living costs would be even higher as they would include the recent increase in prices of milk and dairy products, which he added would further deteriorate the average family's living standards.

Sever said that if the living costs included the costs of two school-age children, the average monthly salary covered only 44.19 percent of the average living costs.

He also said that a couple of pensioners could cover only 53 percent of their living costs.
