BELGRADE, Dec 1 (Hina) - Serbian President Boris Tadic, on whose life an attempt was carried out on Tuesday evening, on Wednesday said that he did not want to comment on all what had happened until he received a report from the Serbian Interior Ministry.

"This situation requires seriousness. There is no reason to dramatise the situation, but there is reason for seriousness. I am expecting a report from the Interior Ministry and a report from competent institutions, as this is not about me but about the institutions. Several hours have passed since the event and I have not yet received any report," Tadic told reporters.

An attempt to assassinate Serbian President Boris Tadic was carried out around 9 pm on Tuesday, Tadic's press service reported on Wednesday morning. The Serbian president was not injured in the attack, which happened in downtown Belgrade when an "Audi" tried several times to ram into the car carrying Tadic, although vehicles in the motorcade were marked with light and sound signals. The driver of the BMW in which Tadic was, swerved and hit the Audi. After that the attacker escaped.

Although there were no official reports on Wednesday morning, the Interior Ministry's public security department's head, Miroslav Milosevic told the state-run television that "immediately after the incident measures including blockades and search for the Audi 80 car have been carried out not only in Belgrade but also on the territory of Serbia".

The President's security was boosted.

The electronic media reported about death threats recently sent by an organisation called "Serbian Patriotic Organisation" from Vienna.

Death threats were sent to President Tadic as well as to Foreign Minister of Serbia-Montenegro, Vuk Draskovic, whom the organisation, which has been so far unknown, accused of treason as they advocated the transfer of war crimes indictees to The Hague. It threatened to assassinate the two if they arrived in Vienna.

A message sent by the organisation read: "Tadic and Draskovic should be prepared to soon join Zoran Djindjic".

Serbian Prime Minister Djindjic was assassinated in Belgrade in March 2003.
