ZAGREB, April 15
(Hina) - The head of the Croatian Catholic Bishops'
Conference (HBK), Djakovo Archbishop Marin Srakic, said on Friday that
the ICTY's non-final guilty verdict against Generals Ante Gotovina and
Mladen Markac was a blow not only to the Croatian people but also to
Europe and the entire world.
The dignitary expressed bitterness at the tribunal's ruling which he said treated "the defence of the homeland" as a joint criminal enterprise.
Srakic gave the comment to Croatian Radio with an explanation that this was his personal comment and that the HBK would later issue a statement on the matter.
