ZADAR, Nov 13 (Hina) - Disabled Croatian war veterans said at their
fourth convention in Zadar on Saturday that the bill on veterans' rights, which
is discussed by the parliament, was fair with regard to veterans with the
highest degree of disability, but that it needed improvement with regard to the
rights of veterans with lower degrees of disability."We are fully aware of the situation of the state budget, but we believe
that the new law should provide for more rights for veterans with lower
degrees of disability," said Josip Djakic, president of the association, called
HVIDRA.
Speaking about the bill, which has passed the first reading in the
parliament, Djakic said the association would insist on restoring all rights of
its members that were part of the 1996 law on war veterans' rights.
The convention was also attended by representatives of the association
of disabled Croat war veterans from Bosnia-Herzegovina, representatives of
other Homeland War associations, the Defence Ministry, the Pension Insurance
Agency, and others.
