VIENNA, Nov 9 (Hina) - The 29th regular session of the UN Industrial Development Organisation's (UNIDO) committee on industrial development, attended by representatives of UNIDO member countries and seven ministers, including Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul, started in the UN headquarters in Vienna on Tuesday.

Opening the international conference, the UNIDO Director General Carlos Magarino, presented a middle-term programme of the UNIDO's work for the period between 2004 and 2007 aimed at promoting industrial development in underdeveloped countries, developing countries and countries in transition, especially regarding the revival of post-conflict society and reconstruction.

He said the process of decentralisation of activities must be continued so that the UNIDO could be even more efficient in achieving balance between developed and underdeveloped countries.

Addressing the conference, Croatian Minister Zuzul highlighted his country's good cooperation with the UNIDO. Commenting the work so far and cooperation with the UNIDO, Zuzul stressed Croatia's interest in the continuation of cooperation and implementation of projects in Croatia and the region.

The Croatian minister expressed hope Croatia would become UNIDO's strategic partner for the entire region.

Zuzul said Croatia supported all UN efforts invested in combating global terrorism. He said that the foundations of Croatia's foreign policy were its relations with neighbouring countries and regional and multilateral cooperation.
