"On behalf of my government, Croatian citizens and myself, I would like to congratulate you on the new term in office that has been entrusted to you by the American people. We are looking forward to cooperation with the United States and you as the President and to developing favourable possibilities that lie ahead of us," Sanader said in his letter.
According to the statement, Croatia is "ready and capable of expanding its cooperation with the Euro-Atlantic community, NATO and the United States".
"For Croatia, NATO is an irreplaceable and indivisible bond between Europe and the United States, particularly in these difficult times when terrorists and terrorist groups are doing all they can to encourage unrest and disruption," the statement said.
