Regular meetings between the competent Croatian representatives and the EU subcommittee on agriculture and fisheries and the subcommittee on trade, steel and iron-wares, customs duties and taxes were held in Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday within the transitional agreement between Croatia and the EU, Croatia's European Integration Ministry reported on Wednesday.
Apart from the usual review of the bilateral trade in the said sectors, and discussions on some current issues of interest, these meetings marked in the practice the start of the analytical review of the existent legislation of the Republic of Croatia and its administrative and institutional potentials for its implementation, for the purpose of preparing negotiations as good as possible," the ministry said in a press release.
Upon the official start of the entry talks, the screening of Croatia's economy will start so as to establish to which extent the economy was in accordance with the acquis communataire, which serves as the basis for preparing the negotiating positions of the country-candidate and the Union.
