The establishment of the agency was moved by the government in March, based on the Food Act.
The National Food Agency is a nonprofit institution providing scientific and expert control of the healthiness and hygiene of food, including food for animals, said temporary agency manager Boris Antunovic.
The agency comprises a seven-member Administrative Council and a 13-member Advisory Council. Members come from ministries, scientific institutions, chambers and associations of consumers.
