ZAGREB, Sept 14 (Hina) - Slovak Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda will be in Zagreb on Wednesday for an official visit, during which he is expected to meet his Croatian counterpart Ivo Sanader and Parliament President Vladimir Seks.

The talks will focus on bilateral issues after Slovakia became a full member of the European Union in May 1 this year, as well as on the participation of the two countries in international organisations and institutions, according to a statement from the Croatian government's public relations office.

Slovakia, which also joined NATO in May, has regularly expressed its support to Croatia's efforts to join the European Union and NATO.

During a private visit to Croatia in August, Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic, who is of Croatian descent, met his Croatian counterpart Stjepan Mesic and emphasised his country's readiness to help Croatia on its path to the EU and NATO.

In the last five months, other Slovak government institutions have also expressed their support. In his opening remarks at an international conference on EU enlargement in Bratislava in March, Prime Minister Dzurinda said that Croatia's progress marked a turning point.

At a meeting in Zagreb in June, Croatian Parliament President Vladimir Seks and his Slovak counterpart Pavol Hrushovski agreed that Slovakia's experience in the approximation of its legislation to EU standards would be welcome.

Dzurinda became prime minister in 1998, replacing Vladimir Mechiar, and officially visited Zagreb in 2000.
