LJUBLJANA, Sept 1 (Hina) - Slovenia's parliament on Wednesday
rejected a proposal by leading opposition parties to hold another national
referendum on the so-called erased non-Slovenes on October 3, the date of
parliamentary elections.MPs of the ruling centre-left coalition turned down the proposal, while
the opposition boycotted the vote.
Interior Minister Rado Bohinc said the Constitutional Court had already
passed a verdict in the matter of the "erased", granting rights to non-Slovenes
who lost residence in Slovenia in early 1992. A referendum on this subject was
held in the spring, when 95 percent of respondents objected to the
Constitutional Court ruling.
