BELGRADE, Aug 26 (Hina) - Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said on Thursday Bosnian Serb war-time military commander Ratko Mladic, who has been indicted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague, was not in Serbia, and that the latest check made by Belgrade's authorities demonstrated that.

"A very, very credible check was done and it was established that Ratko Mladic is not in Serbia. As for Goran Hadzic, the moment the indictment was unsealed, he simply disappeared," Kostunica told a news conference.

Responding to a question from the press, Kostunica said "it's high time for war crimes trials to be transferred to domestic" courts.

Asked about the possible fallout of the standstill in cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal, Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus said he did not think sanctions might be imposed, "not even silent sanctions. As for cooperation with the tribunal, it will proceed in accordance with domestic legislation".
