ZAGREB, Aug 24 (Hina) - All allegations made in the article headlined "Sanader Authorises MI6 to Bug Croatian Citizens", published in the latest issue of the Nacional weekly, "have nothing to do with reality and are obviously figments of imagination of its authors," Croatian government spokesman Vlatko Macek said on Tuesday.

"Those are insinuations that have nothing to do with the truth and reality in this country," Macek said.

The article reads, among other things, that in early May this year Prime Minister Ivo Sanader "bowed to England's pressure and allowed its spies to begin with a final stage in the search for Ante Gotovina and his helpers in Croatia".

General Gotovina has been in hiding since the UN war crimes tribunal issued an indictment against him.

The article says that "thanks to the informal permission of Ivo Sanader and his chief of the Counter-Intelligence Agency, Josko Podbevsek, (agents of) the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) known as MI6 have been freely cruising the country for months, tapping phones and monitoring Croatian citizens of security interest."
